Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like chemical that serves primarily as an antioxidant.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Commonly used in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy). High doses of alpha-lipoic acid have been approved to help with nerve-related symptoms. It is also used in high levels of cholesterol or other fats in the blood and obesity. Alpha-lipoic acid appears to help prevent certain types of cell damage in the body and to restore levels of vitamins E and C.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There is evidence that alpha-lipoic acid supports improved neuronal function in cases of diabetes. Alpha-lipoic acid also helps break down carbohydrates and produce energy for the body. It works as an antioxidant and can be useful for the liver and brain.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
